To log into your Raspberry Pi via SSH, be sure you have enabled SSH server. By default, its disabled. Click here to enable SSH server on your Raspberry Pi first.
- Download Putty or Bitvise SSH Client
- Install the desired app. Putty is a basic SSH app. Bitvise also has SFTP. This allows you to easily upload/download files to and from your Pi. I recommend Bitvise SSH Client
- For Bitvise SSH Client Enter in username: pi password: raspberry port: 22 hostname: (you can use raspberrypi or the IP address) and then click on Login button at the bottom. Click the accept button when it comes up. You will see a black terminal window. This is where you can enter commands on your Pi. You will also see another window that will show you files. Here you can upload/download and edit files on your Pi
- For Putty type in the hostname or IP address and give it a name in the Saved Sessions box and then click on Save on the right. Click on Open button to get to log in screen. Enter in username: pi password: raspberry
